Spelunky 2 Update 1.09 Details

Spelunky 2 has been updated to version 1.09 for PS4. The last two updates for the game have implemented a huge number of fixes as outlined in patch notes.

As a rogue-like dungeon crawler, Spelunky 2 had big shoes to fill for its sequel and it appears to have maintained its original appeal and charm, however, this doesn’t mean that the game doesn’t suffer from game-breaking bugs or other issues.

According to Mossmouth, the latest Spelunky 2 update has implemented the following fixes as outlined in the patch notes.

Spelunky 2 Update 1.09 Patch Notes

  • Both the golden sliding wall and the golden crush trap now drop gold when destroyed
  • Revised madame Tusk’s dice shop when shopkeepers were angered with the player
  • Prevented spark traps from affecting players that have just crossed a door
  • Vendors will now enrage if you telefrag any of their on-sale creatures
  • Bombs and ropes are no longer reset when reviving in the arena
  • Entering a specific level will remove cursed and poisoned states
  • Untamed mounts will no longer be carrieable to the next level
  • Powder kegs now explode when falling from a certain distance
  • Entities can now recover from the stun while being bubbled
  • The boomerang will now damage its thrower if it is frozen
  • Removed boost on jumping from a stopped chained spikeball
  • A boss scream now pops all the nearby bubbles and poison
  • Completing the game now brings you back to the base camp
  • Prevented players from teleporting during cutscenes
  • Prevented poison from damaging during cutscenes
  • Made seeded runs strict and more deterministic
  • Disallowed back layer specifics in some levels
  • Prevent Hired Hands from triggering idol traps
  • Tweaked level design and layout generation
  • Some enemies are no longer telefraggable
  • Arena mist no longer hurts invincibles
  • Improvements to Hired Hands AI
  • Fixed multiple exploits
  • Fixed unusable exit from a very-specific-late-game stage
  • Fixed issue where stomping could cause players to be crushed
  • Graphical performance optimizations for PS4‚Ñ¢Pro consoles
  • Improvements to flamethrower performance
  • Improvements to CPU particle culling
  • Optimized mist in arena deathmatch
  • Optimized bomb Explosion!
  • Minor CPU optimizations
  • Fixed input auto-assignment for the tutorial’s char select
  • Journal entries will now unlock if a sticker of the entity is added
  • Fixed input messing up on accepting and canceling at the same time in a char select slot.
  • Added the ability to quickly locate your score on leaderboards
  • Added the ability to filter leaderboards to friends-only
  • Added PSN icons to player data originated from a PSN account
  • Fixed issue in handling disconnected players during rollback
  • Relaxed network requirements when doing daily leaderboards
  • Implemented deterministic server-side death on disconnect
  • Improved input synchronization during transition
  • Multiple blind crash fixes while playing online
  • Fixed run recap player counter in online mode
  • Fixes infinite “A network error has occurred” screen
  • Fixed using wrong controller information being in online runs
  • Fixed input loss when accepting an invite while playing offline
  • Fixed a display issue that would show some players in leaderboards as having reached 9-X
  • Fixed a soft-lock on killing some monsters by freezing them
  • Fixed a soft-lock in the tutorial, where the player would continuously die
  • Fixed soft-lock in coop when reaching the ending
  • Fixed crash on sacrificing an altar-spawned Hired Hand
  • Fixed crash when a player attacking with a specific item disappears
  • Fixed crash when a sliding wall was warped
  • Fixed crash when a mantrap ate a certain boss servant
  • Fixed a memory leak
  • Added click sound when the player has no bombs or ropes left
  • Added sound effect when whipping an airborne arrow
  • Added equipable integrity compromised sound
  • Added player ghosts’ dash and shake sounds
  • Added loop sound to undiscovered location
  • Added break sound to the red lantern
  • Added different sounds to help differentiate types of statues when picking them up
  • General improvements to multiple sound effects
  • Eggplants no longer play collision sounds
  • Mounts’ walk sound tweaked during taming
  • Tweaked LISE’s sound effect usage
  • Fixed wrapping sounds
  • Fixed shopkeeper anger sound effects triggers
  • Snail’s attach sound will no longer play at the start of the level
  • Fixed sliding wall, spikeball and sticky trap ceiling wrapping sounds
  • Updated credits
  • Paused sparkles when character is transitioning
  • Players now use the push animation on moving inside a bubble
  • Prevented pause menu from opening while a popup is being shown
  • Fixed german translation for “present”
  • Fixed drone depth in the base camp
  • Fixed rubble sprites of a couple of walls
  • Fixed rendering of some visual elements in the game ending
  • Fixed enemies movement in the char select scene when the scene is fading out.
  • Updated production metadata to avoid crashing on startup
