Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition Patch update 1.2 has been officially released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. This brings a myriad of performance enhancements, stability fixes, and general improvements.
Performance Enhancements:
The patch introduces FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), replacing the dynamic resolution system and allowing for an option selector on PC. Framerate improvements have been implemented across all platforms, as well as various measures to reduce hitching issues. Specific DirectX 12 allocation improvements have also been introduced to address hitches on PC. The update resolves auto-detection issues for settings on PC, fixes multiple flickering problems, and optimizes graphics settings for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles. Additionally, VFX has been optimized during combat to address frame rate dips.
Stability Improvements:
The update addresses an occasional crash when detecting graphics settings on the PC, contributing to overall system stability.
General Fixes and Enhancements:
Various bug fixes have been implemented, including a fix for the bug where the End User License Agreement (EULA) needed to be accepted after every game launch. Material and texture updates have been carried out to remove visible seams and enhance overall visuals. Lighting improvements have also been made, along with a fix for excessive shadow popping in Roseway, a disappearing reticle when changing settings during gameplay, and floating grass in Monarch. Lastly, Level of Detail (LOD) improvements have been introduced to reduce popping.
