The Halo: The Master Chief Collection (MCC) received a new update on July 20, 2023, introducing a range of fixes and improvements to enhance the gaming experience across multiple titles in the collection.
In the global changes, the MCC for PC no longer crashes on launch when installed on a drive using the exFAT file system. The Fidelity FX Super Resolution setting and the Framerate Limit option have been relocated within the Video settings menu. Furthermore, Firefight maps and Halo 3: ODST content are now selected by default in the Firefight Custom Game Browser’s Filter menu.
For Halo: Combat Evolved, a non-default value for the Field-of-View (FOV) setting no longer causes campaign cutscenes to have the incorrect FOV. In Halo 2: Classic Multiplayer and Halo 2: Anniversary, rebinding functions like “Scoreboard” and “Toggle Visuals” now work as expected on mouse and keyboard.
Halo 3: ODST has seen improvements in rebinding functions and the Bonus Round score counter in Firefight sessions now starts at 0 points. In Halo: Reach, several issues have been addressed, including player spawn points in certain game modes and clearer icons for Sabre’s evasive maneuvers.
For Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), the Motion Tracker no longer appears in unintended locations during gameplay. The update also brings numerous improvements to Mod Tools, ensuring a smoother experience for mod creators and players alike.
Mod creators are advised to update their mod’s Max Game Version using the Excession tool to ensure their mod appears in-game. The new build number is 1.3251.0.0.
The download size for this update varies by platform, with Xbox consoles requiring approximately 11.5 GB, the Microsoft Store app or Xbox app on PC needing around 11.3 GB, and Steam requiring approximately 62 MB.
