A remaster/remake for Persona 1 and an unknown PS2 game are currently in development at Atlus, based on the latest rumor.

Twitter user MbKKssTBhz5, who is known for their insight on upcoming projects at Sega and Atlus, has shared that, in addition to working on new versions of Persona 2 and 4 , the studio is also working on a Persona 1 remake.

Additionally, they mentioned that a PS2 Atlus game is also set to receive a remaster, though they didn’t mention the name. They also revealed that the developer is also working on a game for Netflix as well as a game connected to Shin Megami Tensei 5.

Revelations: Persona is a role-playing game developed and published by Atlus in 1996. It is the first installment in the Persona series, a part of the Megami Tensei franchise, and the initial RPG of the series to launch in the western market. Initially available for the PlayStation in Japan and North America, it was later ported to Microsoft Windows in 1999. A rebranded version titled Shin Megami Tensei: Persona was released for the PlayStation Portable in North America and Japan in 2009, and in Europe the following year. This version included new cutscenes and a revised English localization to align more closely with the original Japanese release.

The storyline follows a group of high school students encountering supernatural events. After participating in a fortune-telling game, each member gains the ability to summon Personas, representing different aspects of their selves. Guided by Philemon, a benevolent entity symbolizing humanity’s subconscious, they confront various threats to the world. Gameplay involves exploring their town and battling enemies using their Personas, with players able to create new Personas using spell cards obtained in battle or through negotiation with enemies. Exploration differs depending on the location: the hometown is explored from an overhead view, outdoor areas and story locations are viewed from an angled third-person perspective, while dungeons and most buildings are explored in first-person. Battles are initiated by story events or random encounters. They happen on a grid-based arena, with characters and enemies moving according to their position on the grid.
