According to the Linkedin profile of Ben F., former Product and Insights Manager at 343 Industries, Halo Infinite had reached a total player count of over 30 million unique users as of January, 2023, which is when he parted ways with the studio. Previously, it was revealed by the Halo community director at 343 Industries, Brian Jarrard, that the shop price on many cosmetic items in Halo Infinite have been increased in conjunction with multi-core functionality being added to customization content. His statement came in response to concern raised by a member of the community over the pricing changes.
Jarrard explained that, with Season 4, revised shop offers were introduced to reflect an updated pricing model that accounted for new coatings being multi-core enabled. With Season 5, many previously released coatings and all helmets in the game were updated to work on all cores, much like the new ones, and those cosmetic items received a price hike to reflect these changes, and to have parity with Season 4 offers.
Halo Infinite is the sixth main installment in the Halo series, succeeding Halo 5: Guardians (2015). The game’s campaign focuses on the story of Master Chief, as he combats the Banished on the Forerunner ringworld Zeta Halo (Installation 07). In a departure from previous entries, the multiplayer component was launched as a free-to-play mode. The multiplayer beta was released on November 15, 2021, coinciding with the franchise’s 20th anniversary, and the full campaign launched on December 8, 2021, for Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
