Curve Games and Microbird have made an exciting announcement at the Xbox Showcase, unveiling their latest creation, ‘Dungeons of Hinterberg.’ This single-player action RPG, set against the backdrop of the Austrian Alps, is set to launch on Steam and Xbox in 2024. The game promises a unique blend of hack ‘n’ slash action RPG gameplay and social simulation, offering players an immersive experience as they explore the mythical world of Hinterberg.
Set in the picturesque Austrian village of Hinterberg, the game invites players to embark on an adventure like no other. The village, known for its lush scenery and crisp mountain air, is home to magical dungeons teeming with mythical monsters from Alpine folklore. Adventurers from across the globe flock to Hinterberg to take on the Dungeon Challenge, in search of epic loot and the chance to socialize at the village’s renowned apres-slay bar.
In ‘Dungeons of Hinterberg,’ players can look forward to a rich and varied gaming experience. They can explore dungeons, solve intricate puzzles, and engage in epic battles against formidable bosses. After a day of adventure, players can unwind with the locals and fellow slayers over a Schnitzel, forging friendships that can unlock special abilities and provide key items to aid in their dungeon exploration.
“Dungeons of Hinterberg is more than just a game; it’s a unique vacation experience packed with monster-slaying and puzzle-solving,” said Regina Reisinger, Co-Founder of Microbird. “Our goal with Hinterberg is to create a truly special place for players to explore, from the stylized art to the modern yet fantastical alpine setting.”
‘Dungeons of Hinterberg’ will feature 25 dungeons, each with a focus on combat, puzzles, or boss fights. Players will encounter over 20 enemy types and numerous bosses across four visually distinct world locations, each housing 5-7 dungeons. The game also offers over 10 unique locations within Hinterberg for players to socialize, and more than 20 locals and residents to interact with, adding a layer of depth to the social simulation aspect of the game.
