Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt has explained why the studio’s latest third-person shooter, HELLDIVERS 2, will “never” have a PvP mode.
According to Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt, HELLDIVERS 2 will “never” feature a PvP mode because the development team wants to reduce toxic elements from the community. He made this statement in response to a tweet that suggested the development team should add a PvP mode to the game to attract Call of Duty players and to keep the more hardcore players engaged.
In his response, Pilestedt stated that the team at Arrowhead Game Studios wants an environment that is supportive, fun and where all players are “fighting on the same side”. While the development team currently has no plans to add a PvP mode, there’s no telling whether plans may change in the future.
Previously, it was reported that Xbox fans are seemingly review bombing HELLDIVERS 2. Twitter user XboxSX89, who is known for being a diehard Xbox fan, had shared a screenshot of their Metacritic user score for the PlayStation console exclusive. They gave HELLDIVERS 2 a score of zero and stated that their “part” was done, suggesting that Xbox fans may be collectively review bombing the game.
Helldivers 2 is an online tactical third-person shooter that is developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and it is scheduled for release for the PS5 and PC on February 8, 2024. Serving as the sequel to the 2015’s Helldivers, the game is set in a satirical futuristic world dominated by the “managed democracy” of Super Earth.
It received an M rating from the ESRB for “blood and gore” and “intense violence”. On 14 September 2023, gameplay was showcased during a PlayStation State of Play event, revealing the official release date of 8 February 2024. The game’s pre-orders opened on 22 September 2023. Unlike its predecessor, Helldivers 2 opts for a third-person shooter format.
