The upcoming roguelike horde-survivor game Jötunnslayer: Hordes of Hel has made a strong impression at this year’s Steam Next Fest. Developed by Games Farm and published by Grindstone, the game has garnered significant attention, with over 44,000 downloads of its demo and an impressive 125,000 wishlists on Steam. The demo, which has received a glowing 9/10 rating from players, highlights the studio’s creative approach to the genre, drawing widespread acclaim.
Peter Nagy, CEO of Games Farm, expressed his gratitude for the positive reception, stating, “It feels really great to receive an email from Valve saying that your demo was one of the most played.” His comments reflect both pride in the team’s success and appreciation for the community’s support.
The extended demo offers players a chance to experience three unique characters: the Berserker, Seeress, and the newly added Revenant. In addition, players can align themselves with one of three Norse gods, including Thor, Freya, and Loki—each offering distinctive powers to aid in the battle against the chaotic hordes of Helheim. The demo features randomised objectives and dynamic enemy encounters, ensuring a fresh experience each time players dive into the action.
While the demo will eventually be scaled back to its original two-character version, the extended content will remain available for the time being, with Grindstone promising to give players at least a week’s notice before any changes are made.
