Nintendo Switch 2 may be on the verge of a significant third-party software wave, with multiple insiders hinting that several developers are deliberately holding back announcements for a coordinated reveal. According to reputable insider NateTheHate, developers such as Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft, and Bandai Namco are among those with upcoming projects planned for Nintendo’s next-generation system. However, they appear to be waiting for the right moment, possibly tied to an official Nintendo Direct showcase, to unveil these titles.
In his latest comments, NateTheHate stated, “Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft, Namco, and many others are just waiting. They have games they want to announce. Switch 2 has a lot of support coming.” He also reaffirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 is in active development for the Switch 2, though it remains uncertain whether this will be announced during the rumored Direct or independently by Rockstar Games.
Among the games speculated or rumored for Switch 2 are high-profile releases such as Metaphor: ReFantazio, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Shadows, and a wide range of Ubisoft titles. Konami is potentially bringing Metal Gear Solid: Delta. Microsoft is also reportedly bringing several of its major franchises to the platform, with Microsoft Flight Simulator, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and other Xbox titles said to be in the pipeline. Bethesda’s Fallout 4, Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2, Tekken 8, EA’s annual FIFA installment, and even Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor are rumored to be part of this extensive lineup.
In addition, NateTheHate has mentioned that a Nintendo Direct is expected to take place in the latter half of July, with speculation suggesting it could occur in the final week of the month. While the timing remains unofficial, the sheer volume of third-party content reportedly waiting for announcement makes the prospect of a packed showcase increasingly likely.
These reports come on the heels of other rumors pointing to surprising crossovers for the Switch 2. Veteran gaming journalist Omar Alomodi hinted at the possibility of former PlayStation-exclusive titles arriving on Nintendo’s next platform. Though no specific titles were confirmed, community speculation has centered on Death Stranding: Director’s Cut from Kojima Productions. The rumor gained further traction when YouTuber BeatEmUps suggested that Death Stranding: Director’s Cut could feature in the upcoming Direct, possibly in a version tailored for the Switch 2’s hardware capabilities.
BeatEmUps also mentioned other potential announcements, including The Witcher 3 receiving a special edition with expanded features like cross-save and cross-play. Furthermore, a revival of classic GameCube titles such as Pokémon Colosseum is speculated, with Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness possibly following later. Expected first-party highlights include a release date for the next Metroid installment and a teaser for a new Animal Crossing game, rumored to be targeting a 2026 launch.
With anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2’s software lineup continuing to build, the next Nintendo Direct could serve as a pivotal moment for both first-party and third-party announcements, setting the tone for the console’s lifecycle. If the rumors hold, Nintendo appears poised to launch its next hardware generation with unprecedented cross-platform support and a lineup rich in both exclusives and multiplatform titles.
