Developer Steel Mantis and publisher Silver Lining Interactive have announced that Slain 2: The Beast Within is heading to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, expanding beyond its previously announced PC release.
The announcement was accompanied by a new animated trailer showcasing the game’s signature heavy metal-inspired fantasy setting. Players on PC can also get an early taste of the action, with a playable demo now available on Steam.
As a follow-up to the original Slain, the sequel once again blends gothic visuals with brutal hack-and-slash combat. Players take on the role of Prince Akran, the last surviving Wolf Knight, as he battles the demonic forces of Lord Vroll in a world consumed by darkness.
Armed with the sentient sword Bathoryn, Akran gains access to elemental abilities that can be used to overcome increasingly dangerous enemies. However, when his blade alone is not enough, he can embrace the curse within and transform into a powerful werewolf, unleashing devastating claw and melee attacks against his foes.
The adventure spans three handcrafted regions, taking players across haunted castles, ghostly seas, and the depths of a dark abyss in search of sacred relics needed to halt the spreading corruption. Along the way, players will face a variety of powerful bosses, including ancient spirits, witches, warlocks, and other monstrous creatures.
Steel Mantis has also confirmed that Slain 2 will feature a physical PlayStation 5 edition alongside its digital release. The boxed version is available to pre-order now through Silver Lining Direct and participating retailers, priced at £19.99 ($24.99/€24.99).
While a release date has yet to be announced, players interested in the game can already download the Steam demo to experience its combat and atmospheric world ahead of launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
