Team17 and developer Ghost Town Games have announced that Overcooked 2 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 this winter. The announcement was made during Nintendo’s Direct showcase on September 12, 2025, confirming that the popular cooperative cooking title will return with a number of platform-specific enhancements.
According to the publishers, the Switch 2 edition will include graphical improvements to bring visuals in line with the PC version, along with support for 4K resolution and 60 frames per second when the console is docked. New features include “Camera Play,” which allows players to record gameplay and interactions, and “Game Share,” a mode designed to make co-op access easier. A new playable chef, the Platinum Platypus, will also be added to the roster.
Cross-compatibility has also been confirmed. Players using the Switch 2 version will be able to join those on the original Nintendo Switch, with all previously purchased downloadable content carrying over. Save data can be transferred freely between both platforms, addressing a common concern for players upgrading to the new system.
Pricing has been set at £24.99 / €29.99 / $29.99 for new players. Existing owners of the Switch version can upgrade to the enhanced edition for £7.99 / €9.99 / $9.99.
First released in 2018, Overcooked 2 has become one of Team17’s most recognizable franchises, celebrated for its chaotic cooperative gameplay and family-friendly appeal. The new version marks the series’ debut on Nintendo’s next-generation hardware, extending the game’s lifespan as the platform transitions.
An exact release date has not yet been confirmed beyond the winter 2025 window.
