DC and Warner Bros. Games marked Batman Day 2025 with the release of a behind-the-scenes video for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The featurette offered fresh gameplay footage alongside commentary from figures including DC Studios co-chair James Gunn, DC Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee, TT Games’ Jonathan Smith, and Jesper C. Nielsen of The LEGO Group.
The video explored how the game adapts more than eight decades of Batman stories across comics, television, and film, while incorporating the humor and style characteristic of TT Games’ LEGO titles. Developers emphasized that the project aims to serve as both a tribute to the character’s history and an accessible action-adventure for a broad audience.
“This game is an absolute celebration of everything Batman,” Gunn said in the video, underscoring the effort to integrate multiple interpretations of the character into a single interactive experience. The footage also previewed Gotham City locations, character designs, and cooperative gameplay elements.
In addition, Warner Bros. Games confirmed that players who create or link a WB Games account will be able to access the Golden Age Batsuit at launch. The costume is based on Batman’s first appearance in Detective Comics #27 from 1939.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is being developed by TT Games and is scheduled to release in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Wishlisting is currently available across supported platforms.
The Batman Day 2025 announcement continues a long-running tradition in which DC and Warner Bros. highlight new projects and celebrate the enduring legacy of one of their most recognizable heroes. With its emphasis on combining Batman’s history with LEGO’s family-friendly format, the upcoming title is positioned as both a nostalgic tribute and a modern reimagining of the character in video game form.
