The first review for the first-person shooter Immortals of Aveum was accidentally published ahead of the embargo time. The review, cached on OpenCritic, comes from VG247, who have given the game a middling score of 3 out of 5 stars.
Connor Makar of VG247 shared his thoughts on Immortals of Aveum stating, “If you buy Immortals of Aveum, know that there is a good time here waiting for you. However, I deem it likely that it’ll be on sale rather soon. If you’re starving for some magic in your FPS pick it up, but even with some mystical flair and an admirable attempt at bringing mystic arts to a very gun-heavy genre, Immortals of Aveum ultimately fails to reach the heights of your Bulletstorms or Wolfensteins.”
Immortals of Aveum is an upcoming game developed by Ascendant Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It is scheduled for release on Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on August 22, 2023.
The game is played from a first-person perspective and features around 25 spells, including offensive and defensive magics of red, blue, and green varieties. With a talent tree boasting over 80 nodes, its main campaign is confirmed to last at least 25 hours. The story follows the sorcerer Jak, who joins an elite order of battlemages to save a planet on the brink of abyss.
Founded in 2018 by veteran developers from Dead Space and Call of Duty, Ascendant Studios is set to make its first major game release with Immortals of Aveum. The game, announced at The Game Awards 2022, is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 and directed by former Dead Space creative director Bret Robbins.
