CD Projekt has confirmed that the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 has become one of the console’s top-selling physical titles, securing a position just behind Nintendo’s own first-party releases. This information was revealed by Michał Nowakowski, Joint CEO of CD Projekt, during an internal discussion held alongside the company’s General Meeting, as reported by PAP Biznes.
“We are pleased that the Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 is currently one of the best-selling titles in physical distribution, ranking just behind Nintendo’s own first-party titles,” Nowakowski stated. “At the same time, it is worth remembering that this console has its specific characteristics—players here primarily reach for first-party titles, which clearly dominate in terms of sales volumes,” he added.
Nowakowski further noted that CD Projekt expects sales of Cyberpunk 2077 on the Switch 2 to maintain a steadier trajectory over time, rather than seeing a sharp early spike as was the case on platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. “In our case, we anticipate that sales of Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2 will be more evenly distributed over time, unlike what usually happens with our major launches on other platforms,” he explained.
Cyberpunk 2077‘s success on Switch 2 represents a major milestone for CD Projekt, becoming the platform’s best-selling third-party title in a market typically dominated by Nintendo franchises like Zelda and Mario Kart. This achievement is particularly notable as first-party games continue to drive the majority of Switch 2 software sales.
The console itself has moved 3.5 million units globally since its June 5 launch, with Nintendo targeting 15 million shipments by March 2026. Analysts at DFC Intelligence suggest sales could reach 16 million by year’s end.
The Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition (including the Phantom Liberty expansion) launched alongside the Switch 2, with its strong physical sales demonstrating both sustained player interest in CD Projekt’s RPG and the technical feat of porting such a demanding title to handheld hardware.
