PlayStation Network (PSN) is currently experiencing a widespread outage, impacting users’ ability to access various services. The issue commenced earlier today, affecting users across different regions who cannot connect to PSN servers or utilize key PlayStation services on their consoles.
The outage reportedly began on October 1, 2024, at 6:21 AM, with some users receiving notifications on their PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles stating, “Servers are busy, we will be back soon.” The official PSN services status tracker confirms that several core services, including Account Management, Gaming and Social features, PlayStation Video, and the PlayStation Store, are currently experiencing significant disruptions.
Users may encounter difficulties signing in or creating new accounts, launching games or apps, accessing network features, purchasing products from the PlayStation Store, or retrieving content from PlayStation Video during the outage. Sony Interactive Entertainment has acknowledged the issue and assured users that their team is actively working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
It is noteworthy that while PSN is facing connectivity issues, the PlayStation Direct website remains fully functional, allowing users to make purchases through the online store without encountering any difficulties.
This is not the first time PSN has encountered technical issues. Last year, a similar outage affected users’ ability to play online games and access cloud saves, although the official status page did not immediately reflect the disruption. In 2015, a significant DDoS attack took down the PlayStation Network for several hours, although the individuals responsible were swiftly apprehended.
