Astro Bot PS5 DualSense Controller Sees Rapid Sell-Out Across Retailers

The limited edition Astro Bot DualSense controller has quickly attracted significant attention and demand, as evidenced by the buzz on social media. Upon its release this morning, pre-orders swiftly sold out at major retailers, leaving only a limited number of units available through Sony’s Direct online store. Priced at $79.99, the controller’s design is inspired by the beloved character from Team ASOBI’s platforming series, Astro Bot. Its distinctive white and blue color scheme, complemented by touchpad eyes that resemble the character’s design, has captured the interest of fans and collectors alike.

The unexpected surge in demand for this tie-in product, particularly for a modern 3D platformer, has taken many by surprise. Unlike other themed controllers, such as the Concord DualSense, which did not experience the same level of interest, the Astro Bot controller’s unique design has resonated with a wider audience.

The upcoming game from Team ASOBI, scheduled to release alongside the Astro Bot DualSense controller on September 6, promises to be a fully-fledged platforming adventure. It aims to appeal to fans of the genre and offers a refreshing change from the prevailing trend of live service games.

As for restocks at major retailers, it remains uncertain whether the Astro Bot DualSense controller will be replenished. Based on past trends, Sony may opt to restock the controller if demand continues to outstrip supply. However, if they fail to do so, resellers are likely to capitalize on the situation, selling the controller at inflated prices.
