Warner Bros. Games, TT Games, DC, and the LEGO Group have officially launched LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight in early access for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Players who purchase the Deluxe Edition can begin playing immediately, while the Standard Edition is set to launch worldwide on 22 May.
Developed by TT Games, the studio behind LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and numerous previous LEGO titles, the new game delivers an original Batman story inspired by decades of films, comics, television series, and videogames centred around the Caped Crusader. The adventure follows Bruce Wayne’s rise into becoming Batman, beginning with his training under the League of Shadows before expanding into a larger campaign involving Gotham City’s most recognisable heroes and villains.
The game introduces a redesigned combat system built specifically around Batman’s fighting style, featuring chained attacks, gadget-based combat, and character-specific abilities for allies including Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul. Villains appearing throughout the campaign include The Joker, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Bane, Two-Face, Firefly, and Ra’s al Ghul.
A major focus of the new title is its open-world version of Gotham City, which spans four islands filled with crimes, collectibles, puzzles, and familiar DC locations such as Arkham Asylum, Ace Chemicals, Wayne Tower, and Gotham Botanical Gardens. Players can travel using grappling mechanics, gliding, and a range of Batmobiles and Batcycles recreated in LEGO form.
The Batcave also plays a central role, acting as a fully customisable operations hub beneath Wayne Manor. As players progress, the Batcave expands with additional upgrades, suits, vehicles, trophies, and cosmetic items. More than 100 outfits are included for playable characters, celebrating different eras of Batman history.
The game supports solo play as well as two-player local co-op, allowing another player to join as one of Batman’s allies. TT Games has also included higher difficulty options for players seeking a tougher experience, including a dedicated Dark Knight mode.
The Deluxe Edition includes the Legacy Collection DLC pack, which adds content inspired by the Batman: Arkham games, Batman Beyond, and a music-themed cosmetic pack. Additional DLC titled the Mayhem Collection is planned for September 2026, introducing playable versions of The Joker and Harley Quinn alongside new missions, gadgets, Batcave items, and vehicles.
Players who pre-order the Standard or Deluxe Edition will receive The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit based on the acclaimed comic series. Warner Bros. Games account holders can also unlock the Golden Age Batsuit.
Alongside the game’s release, four new LEGO DC Batman sets are now available, each including redeemable in-game content tied to LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, including exclusive gold suits and vehicle variants.
