Recent developments have sparked fresh speculation about the future of Cyberpunk 2077. A Senior Writer at Virtuos has publicly listed work on new side quests for the game in their professional portfolio. While CD Projekt Red hasn’t officially announced any DLC beyond Phantom Liberty, this revelation—coming from a studio deeply involved in the game’s post-launch support—strongly hints that new story content could be in the works.
The writer’s profile states that since April 2025, they’ve been crafting multiple new side quests for upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. They also mention collaborating with the game’s Narrative Designer and English Adaptation Specialist, as well as using REDengine tools—all signs that this work is part of CD Projekt Red’s official development process.
“Analyzed existing Cyberpunk 2077 character voices to inform writing their dialogue in multiple new side quests… Coordinated with the Narrative Designer to conceive, write, and polish side quests for upcoming DLC releases.” — Senior Writer at Virtuos
Virtuos, an experienced co-development studio, has been working with CD Projekt Red to maintain and expand Cyberpunk 2077 since its launch. Their continued involvement suggests that CD Projekt may not be done with Night City just yet—even after Phantom Liberty. This idea gains more weight with the recent release of Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2 (June 5, 2025), which shows the studio is still pushing the game on new platforms.
CD Projekt Red initially said Phantom Liberty would be the game’s only major expansion, but now, the possibility of new DLC hints at a change in plans. It’s unclear whether this means a full shift in their post-launch strategy or just smaller narrative additions. Still, if new side quests or other content arrive as part of a larger update, it could mean a meaningful return to Night City, giving longtime players fresh stories to explore.
Originally released in December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world RPG set in the dystopian Night City. Built on REDengine 4 by a team of 500+ developers, the game offers a branching story, deep customization, and Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand. Since launch, it’s seen countless updates and fixes, leading up to the well-received Phantom Liberty expansion in 2023.
With a macOS version still in the works and the game now on Nintendo’s newest console, CD Projekt Red clearly isn’t ready to walk away from Cyberpunk 2077 just yet.
