HBO and Sony Interactive Entertainment/Naughty Dog’s TV series, The Last of Us, has reportedly cast an actor to play the character of Abby.

According to a well-known insider, Kaitlyn Dever will play the role of Abby in season 2 of The Last of Us HBO TV series. An official announcement in this regard is expected to happen very soon, given that filming will begin on February 12, 2024.

As for when Season 2 will see the light of day, back in July, The Last of Us co-creator/executive producer Craig Mazin stated in a recent interview that there is still a possibility for Season 2 to make its original delivery date in the year 2025. Back then, he revealed that episode 1 of Season 2 has already been written.

For the uninitiated, Kaitlyn Dever is an American actress known for her work in various television series and films. Notable roles include appearances in the FX crime drama Justified (2011–2015), the ABC/Fox sitcom Last Man Standing (2011–2021), the Netflix drama miniseries Unbelievable (2019), and the Hulu drama Dopesick (2021). Her performances in Unbelievable and Dopesick garnered her Golden Globe and Critic’s Choice Award nominations, with an additional Primetime Emmy Award nomination for the latter.

Dever has taken on supporting roles in films such as Bad Teacher (2011), The Spectacular Now (2013), Short Term 12 (2013), Detroit (2017), Beautiful Boy (2018), Dear Evan Hansen (2021), and Ticket to Paradise (2022). Additionally, she has had leading roles in Them That Follow (2019), Booksmart (2019), Rosaline (2022), and No One Will Save You (2023).

The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic drama TV series produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO. It’s based on the 2013 video game from Naughty Dog and is set two decades into a pandemic caused by a widespread fungal infection, turning hosts into zombie-like creatures and leading to societal collapse. The storyline revolves around Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler assigned to escort Ellie (Bella Ramsey), an immune teenager, across a post-apocalyptic United States.
