Black Ops Cold War Floppy Disk and How To Decrypt It

GIStaffBy GIStaffNovember 25, 2020Updated:November 18, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is officially launched, and it’s time to dive into the action with an array of guns and explosions. The new entry elevates the Call of Duty experience with a new campaign, weapons, maps, multiplayer modes, gadgets, killstreaks, and zombie maps for players to enjoy. There’s also a new Warzone that merges with Modern Warfare, allowing your characters, weapons, and progress to carry over.

In this entry, collecting all pieces of evidence and reading the various bits of lore scattered across the map is crucial, as it unlocks many new optional missions. To embark on Operation Chaos, you need to find three key pieces of evidence and decrypt several codes from the information you’ve collected. Decrypting these codes can be tricky, so this guide will help you solve them.

How to Decrypt the Floppy Disk in Black Ops Cold War

Solving the Passphrase

Start with the grid numbers in red and blue to decrypt the passphrase. Ignore all the jargon and symbols on the paper, as they don’t matter. Focus on the row of numbers and the two “?” spaces. Separate the blue and red numbers into two groups, as they aren’t correlated.

For example, to solve the blue question mark space, isolate numbers like 72, 78, 81, and 84. Notice the pattern; the numbers ascend by adding three. This tells us that the missing number is 75. Do the same for the red “?” space to find the missing number in the group of red numbers.

Once you have both missing numbers, go to the Numbers Station and find the city with your missing number in their order. In my case, Miami was the city I picked because my missing red number was 68 and my missing blue number was 75. The city you pick is your passphrase. Everyone has unique codes, so don’t overthink it. The patterns are easy to solve once you isolate the two different colored number groups.

Figuring Out the Code

This part of the puzzle is straightforward. After you have the passphrase, look at the newspaper, and you’ll find some highlighted letters. These letters spell out the name of one of the cities listed on the Number Station Broadcast. In my case, it spelled out New York City. I then went back to the Number Station Broadcast, found this city on the list, and remembered the four numbers tied to it. These four numbers are your floppy disk’s code. Everything else in the newspaper and other stations is irrelevant.

Once you have your passphrase and the four numbers, decrypt the floppy disk by entering your unique code and passphrase to access the new mission, Operation Chaos.
