What You Get With a RuneScape 3 Membership

Emil JohnBy Emil JohnMarch 30, 2022Updated:March 16, 2024No Comments5 Mins Read

While RuneScape 3 has a ton of content for players without bonds, they still get a limited experience of the game. Paid membership opens a whole new Gielinor, with more equipment to wear, bosses to defeat, and activities to do. It’s by no means Pay-2-Win, but Runescape 3 offers plenty of new adventures for those with membership. And, for those who care about it, a membership also adds better methods for skilling, RS3 gold making, and transportation methods.

Here you’ll read about everything you can get with an RS3 bond.

RS3 Skills

There are 11 extra members-only skills. They are:

  • Agility
  • Herblore
  • Thieving
  • Slayer
  • Farming
  • Construction
  • Hunter
  • Summoning
  • Divination
  • Invention
  • Archaeology

Agility, Thieving, Construction, and Slayer are notable member skills, as they unlock various things. Agility makes traveling easier, as it opens shortcuts and makes energy regenerate faster. Thieving is one of the better money-making methods, especially at higher levels. Construction allows for the creation of player-owned houses, which is a convenient location for many things. Lastly, Slayer opens equipment and weapons otherwise unavailable. They’re all highly beneficial and give players access to brand-new gameplay loops.

That’s not to say that the other skills are useless! All of them have their own uses, those four just have a more obvious use than the others. With these skills, they break open a wider version of Gielinor unavailable to F2P players.

Runescape 3 Quests

With 17 skills, F2P players have a handful of quests they can do. However, more quests are limited to paid members. There are 192 member-only quests, which is a far cry from the number of free-to-play quests. Some of them are linked together to form quest lines that have more of an impact on Gielinor than other quests.

Even better, members-only quests have the best rewards. One example is the Lunar Spellbook, which gives players the ability to contact certain NPCs without having to go to their location. It also has convenient teleport spells and other useful ones. Another example is Ava’s devices, from the quest Animal Magnetism. Any Ranged user would love this device since it will save ammunition in the long run.

These quests will also give you a wider perspective of Gielinor. They will bring you to places and introduce characters you otherwise wouldn’t encounter.

Equipment

The best equipment in the game can be found behind the paywall, unfortunately. While F2P ones are perfectly serviceable, many of the P2P equipment blow those out of the water. The God Swords are an example, as well as the Drygore weaponry and many more.

As for armor, there’s the Barrows armor alongside Bandos and Crystal ones. That’s something that can help in surviving the new locations open to members.

Runescape 3 Bosses, Locations, and Activities

Members have the option to explore a Gielinor that’s 3 times as big as the one available to F2P players. With those new locations come new enemies to defeat. Some of those enemies are bosses and even raids to do with friends.

Alongside those new locations are new activities and minigames. From Treasure Trails to Penguin Hide and Seek, members have their pick of Distractions and Diversions to choose from.

And So Much More

Other features that aren’t included in the above are:

  • More bank slots
  • The ability to change character names
  • More unlockable features in F2P skills
  • The ability to buy Skill Capes at levels 99 and 120
  • More Grand Exchange offers
  • More pets, emotes, titles, and music to collect
  • The ability to post on the forums without fulfilling the requirements
  • A Photo Booth feature
  • The ability to create and enter Clan Citadels
  • More keys for Treasure Hunter
  • A 10% discount when purchasing from Solomon’s General Store
  • Access to the Members Loyalty Programme
  • Full access to seasonal and holiday events as well as combat abilities
  • 2 more action bars to use
  • Extra bonuses when buying the Premier Club

All benefits are only applicable when playing in a Pay-to-Play World. Much of these will be restricted when in a free world, except the bank slots. Take note of these restrictions when playing with a friend who isn’t a member.

Parting Words

RS3 bonds cost about $7 and last about two weeks. Buying them in bulk gives some extra days. It’s also possible to buy bonds off the Grand Exchange for about 43.7M RS3 gold at the time of writing. One last method to become a paid member of the game is to buy a RuneScape account for sale with an active bond.

As you can see, it will break open the game for you. With more things to do, collect, and defeat, you’re sure to enjoy the game for even longer than the F2P content can hold your attention. The F2P version only offers about a third of all the content in the game, so you’re missing out without it.

Fortunately, with some effort in farming currency, it’s possible to get it for (technically) free. There shouldn’t be an excuse not to get a membership and experience everything Gielinor has to offer.

Enjoy RuneScape 3!
