Final Fantasy XIV Update 9.18 Patch Details: What’s New December 3 Update

Final Fantasy XIV update 6.0 will be released to mark the start of the Endwalker content. You can find out the complete patch notes from here.

Among the huge lists of fixes and new additions is the ability to use the DualSense controller on PC. Other changes include Haptic Feedback support and more. You will also enjoy new trophies for the PS5 version. You can get the details on this update below, or have a look at the official website.

Final Fantasy XIV Update 9.18 Patch Notes

  • Features of the PlayStation®5 DualSense™ Wireless Controller and PlayStation®4 DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless Controller can now be used on the Windows version (DirectX® 11 only).
  • To make use of these features, the DualSense™ Wireless Controller requires a USB connection, and the DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless Controller requires either a USB connection or a DUALSHOCK®4 USB Wireless Adapter CUH-ZWA1x*.
    * The model number for the DUALSHOCK®4 USB Wireless Adapter may vary according to the region where it is sold.
    * Please be advised that not all features are available when connecting via a standard Windows Bluetooth connection.
    * When establishing a connection, your active Windows sound device may be set to the wireless controller. Please adjust your sound settings as needed.

PlayStation®5 DualSense™ Wireless Controller Features (Requires a USB Connection)

  • Haptic feedback
  • Adaptive triggers
  • Sound effects via built-in speaker

DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless Controller (Requires USB connection or Wireless Adapter)

  • Rumble
  • Sound effects via built-in speaker

Support for Embody’s Immerse Spatial Audio has been added (DirectX® 11 only).

  • Requires the purchase of a license from the Embody website and installation of their gamepack.

    Immerse Spatial Audio is an original sound add-on produced by Embody that brings 360-degree personalized spatial audio to the world of FINAL FANTASY XIV.

    Once the gamepack has been installed, the add-on can be enabled under the Sound Settings tab of the System Configuration menu.

Additions have been made to the System Configuration interface. (Windows®/PlayStation®4/PlayStation®5)

Sound Settings

  • Enable Immerse Spatial Audio (Windows®)
  • Wireless Controller Settings (Windows®/PlayStation®4/PlayStation®5)
  • Speaker Sounds
  • Speaker Volume
  • The following options have been added to the Character Configuration menu:

UI Settings

  • HUD Tab
  • Character Information
  • Display character portraits with battle dialogue widget.

Control Settings

  • Character Tab
  • Battle Effects Settings
  • PvP Opponents
  • Target Tab
  • Ground Targeting Settings (Gamepad Mode)
  • Limit ring movement to targeting range.
  • Press action twice to execute.

Log Window Settings

  • General Tab
  • Log Window Settings
  • Enable resizing of log window.
  • Additions and adjustments have been made to text commands.
  • The /systemsoundsspeaker text command for wireless controller sound settings can now be used on the Windows version.
  • The in-game text commands list and /? text command will no longer show information for emotes you have not yet unlocked.
  • Additions have been made to the auto-translation dictionary.
  • Additions have been made to the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5 auto-complete dictionary.
  • New trophies have been added (PlayStation®5).
  • The sound engine has been improved to more easily discern sound effects when a large group of players are present.
  • New music, sound effects, and voices have been added.
  • In preparation for the Oceanian data center, the data center selection screen has been adjusted.
  • When UI Resolution Settings is set to High (WQHD/4K), the Title and Character Selection screens will also use high resolution fonts. (Windows®/Mac/PlayStation®5)
  • The PlayStation®5 version will now always use high resolution settings.
  • The following additions and adjustments have been made to the game launcher (Windows®/PlayStation®4/PlayStation®5)
  • The design has been changed.
  • Theme settings have been added.
  • A light and dark theme setting have been added in the Config menu of the game launcher.
  • An option to restore game data has been added (Windows version)
  • This option is recommended when encountering gameplay or launch errors due to corrupted files.
  • The title screen logo and opening movie have been changed to those of Endwalker.
  • The opening movie for Shadowbringers can be viewed by selecting Movies at the Title screen.
  • Reaper and sage have been added to the solo rankings for Palace of the Dead and Heaven-on-High.
