Warner Bros. Games has officially announced General Shao and Sindel as the newest playable characters joining the main roster for Mortal Kombat 1. Developed by the award-winning NetherRealm Studios, this latest installment in the acclaimed Mortal Kombat videogame franchise continues to captivate fans with innovative gameplay and a rich storyline.
The new characters are featured in a trailer titled “Rulers of Outworld,” providing a first glimpse at gameplay and story elements. General Shao, the supreme ruler of Outworld’s army, is portrayed as a dominating force with conquering strength and an iron will. Sindel, the empress of Outworld, is depicted with unique abilities to vanquish enemies using her mystifying hair, piercing scream, and levitation powers.
The trailer also introduces Motaro and Shujinko as new Kameo Fighters, offering support during matches with a variety of moves.
Mortal Kombat 1 represents a rebirth of the Mortal Kombat Universe, introducing a new narrative that reimagines iconic heroes and villains. The game features an extensive cast of legendary fighters, including Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, and many others, each with newly crafted backstories.
Scheduled for launch on September 19, 2023, Mortal Kombat 1 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). The post-launch downloadable content (DLC) Kombat Pack will feature additional playable fighters such as Quan Chi, Ermac, Takeda, and guest fighters Peacemaker, Omni-Man, and Homelander. The Kombat Pack is now available for pre-order as part of the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition and Kollector’s Edition. All pre-orders will include Shang Tsung as an in-game playable character.
