Fumito Ueda has teased that their new game from genDesign studio is expected to get an announcement soon in 2023.
The Last Guardian is the last game from Team ICO, which created masterpieces like ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Their new game announcement is due soon.
Fumito Ueda is the genius mind behind the Team ICO games and after leaving Sony, he formed his own studio, genDesign. They have been working on a brand new game for a while now, but they appear to be finally ready to show something to their fans.
In a traditional new year goals message shared by various creators and developers in the Japanese video game industry, Ueda had something to say as well.

While Ueda didn’t reveal any timeline for their announcement, this is the first time he has talked about revealing their new project soon.
The Last Guardian was a project that was originally planned for the PS3 but it took a long time to finally launch on the PS4. The game didn’t manage to garner the same critical acclaim as most of the Team ICO games, but it is still considered a classic among the fans.
It was an action-adventure game developed by Japan Studio and GenDesign and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 in 2016. Players control a boy who befriends a giant half-bird, half-mammal creature, Trico. It was designed and directed by Fumito Ueda, and shares stylistic, thematic, and gameplay elements with his previous games, Ico (2001) and Shadow of the Colossus (2005).
Sony PlayStation owned Team ICO which was based in Japan. Fumito Ueda was the lead on this development studio and he went on to create his own studio after the launch of The Last Guardian as Team ICO was closed down.
