Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror has received a significant update for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Developed by Bend Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, the game is the fifth installment in the Syphon Filter franchise and the sequel to the 2004 title, Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain. Recently added to the PS Plus Premium Classic Catalog on March 21, 2023, the PlayStation Portable version has garnered renewed attention.
The latest update for Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror addresses essential aspects of the game, enhancing the playing experience for both new and returning players. Key improvements in the update include:
- Right-Stick support: Enabled by default, the right-stick support ensures a smoother playing experience for gamers.
- Top Operative trophy: Players will now be able to unlock the Top Operative trophy after replaying the missions, and fixing previous issues with trophy acquisition.
Players are encouraged to download the update on their PS4 or PS5 consoles to benefit from these improvements.
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror’s gameplay is a return to the series’ roots, featuring Gabe Logan and Lian Xing as special operatives for a secret government agency. The game deviates from the open-ended approach of its predecessor and reintroduces linear gameplay, along with new weapons and vision modes. Players can now hide against walls and shoot around corners, while the roll ability has been removed.
The game’s multiplayer mode is ad hoc and infrastructure compatible, allowing up to 8 players in a single game. With the use of the PSP Headset, players can engage in an online chat in the pre-game lobby and during gameplay. Multiplayer modes include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Rogue Agent, and Objective.
