The Super Smash Bros Ultimate director thanked everyone involved in the creation of the Sora amiibo. He praised the design and the color coding, calling them precise and perfect. Additionally, he said that the sculpt and pose both look good.

Sakurai said that, now that all of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s fighters have been recreated as amiibos, he believes his work on the game is finally coming to an end.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a crossover fighting game released in 2018 for the Nintendo Switch. Developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Sora Ltd., and published by Nintendo, it serves as the fifth installment in the Super Smash Bros. series, succeeding Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U released in 2014. The game retains the traditional gameplay style of the series, where players control various characters to weaken opponents and knock them out of an arena using attacks. It offers a range of game modes including single-player campaign and multiplayer versus modes. Ultimate boasts a roster of 89 playable fighters, comprising characters from previous Super Smash Bros. games alongside newcomers, spanning Nintendo’s own franchises and third-party properties.

Development for the game commenced in December, 2015, with full production beginning after the completion of downloadable content for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Masahiro Sakurai, the series creator and director, returned alongside Bandai Namco Studios and Sora Ltd., expediting the preparation process. Sakurai aimed to incorporate every character from previous installments, despite the challenges posed by development and licensing. Notable video game musicians contributed to the soundtrack, with Hideki Sakamoto composing the main theme “Lifelight”.
