ATLUS has announced the release of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, the latest addition to their celebrated RPG universe. The game is set to launch on June 21, 2024, on a wide variety of platforms including the Nintendo Switch family, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, and Steam.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will offer both longtime fans and newcomers an immersive RPG experience, with new areas to explore, a fresh demon roster, and an enhanced musical score. The game promises an improved gaming experience, with easier gameplay mechanics, an advanced battle system, new demon interactions, and increased opportunities for exploration.
The game’s narrative begins with a murder scene in contemporary Tokyo, leading the protagonist on a journey into Da’at, a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Here, the protagonist merges with a mysterious savior to become Nahobino, a powerful entity that straddles the line between human and demon. Players will have to navigate a dangerous world filled with decisions and challenges.
At the start of the game, players will have to choose between the original storyline of Shin Megami Tensei V, the Canon of Creation, or the new and vengeful path, the Canon of Vengeance. The latter introduces new characters, the enigmatic Qadištu demons, and an uncharted dungeon and map, promising an engaging tale of revenge that adds depth to the game’s rich lore. The game builds on the original’s combat system, demon fusion mechanics, and exploration elements, enhancing these features to create a more immersive and expansive gameplay experience.
Pre-orders for Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will start on February 27, 2024, for various platforms. Details on digital pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch will be announced later.
