MachineGames is working on a brand new Indiana Jones game for Walt Disney and Xbox Game Studios. This will reportedly use Unreal Engine.
While MachineGames has previously worked with id Tech 5 for their Wolfenstein games, and id Tech 6 for Wolfenstein Youngblood, they might transition to Unreal Engine for their next project which is a brand new Indiana Jones game.
This is according to a job opening for a Lead Level Designer. This demands the player to have some experience with the Unreal Level Editor. Advanced knowledge and experience with level editors (Unreal Level Editor, Sandbox Editor, Hammer or similar)” is one of the requirements for this job position.
Another job opening for an AI Gameplay Programmer mentions experience with “Havok products, physics, AI.” While their job opening for Lead Environment Artist mentions “A knowledge of PBR systems with a focus on material definition, readability, and convincing surface detail,” suggesting that their new game will possibly have global illumination lighting.
While we haven’t seen the new Indiana Jones game yet, Bethesda’s Todd Howard did suggest that this project has been in the pipeline for a while now. Todd elaborated on the concept of this project earlier in an interview suggesting that it is something that the fans of the Indiana Jones series will enjoy. He also called it a “unique experience” as a video game.
MachineGames has previously worked on the Wolfenstein series and they were successful in bringing it to modern platforms with a reboot. They followed it up with another critically acclaimed sequel although another spin-off that they released after it received middling reviews due to a focus on online co-op and the lack of a solid story mode.
The Indiana Jones game is currently in development at MachineGames. It has only received a short teaser trailer and there have been no confirmation on the platforms or the details around the game itself.
