A new merchandise promotion from EA may be hinting at a possible Dead Space 2 remake announcement in the near future.
The aforementioned merchandise promotion was shared on EA’s official gear store Twitter/X account. It would have been nothing out of the ordinary, had the promo used artwork from the recent Dead Space remake. Instead, EA opted to use artwork from Dead Space 2, which is oddly specific, and it may just have something to do with a possible Dead Space 2 remake announcement.
One the other hand, this may have been done in error, or perhaps there’s no connection here and this whole idea is a bit of a stretch. Or perhaps not. Given that the remake of the original Dead Space was a success, there’s no reason to stop there, especially when the sequel is just as admired by series fans. Regardless of whether this is some sort of cryptic hint from EA, we’re inclined to believe that a Dead Space 2 remake is a case of “when” rather than “if”. It’s worth mentioning that a recent survey from EA had asked respondents how interested they would be in a remake for both Dead Space 2 and 3 in the same style as Motive Studio’s Dead Space remake. The studio is currently working on an Iron Man title.
That said, as always, we encourage our readers to take all rumors and speculation with a grain of salt until there is confirmation via official channels.
For the uninitiated, Dead Space 2 is a survival horror game developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts for PlayStation 3, Windows, and Xbox 360. Set on the Titan-based Sprawl space station, players follow protagonist Isaac Clarke as he battles the monstrous Necromorphs and struggles with mental illness induced by alien Markers. The gameplay involves exploration, puzzle-solving, resource management, and combat against Necromorphs.
