The face model for Mary Jane in Insomniac Games latest web-swinging adventure, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has been facing harassment from so-called fans.
Stephanie Tyler Jones, who is the face model for Mary Jane in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has been facing harassment from so-called fans, and, as a result, has taken to Instagram to ask them to stop.
In her message, Jones has stated that she appreciates the love for her role in the Spider-Man games and the positive response her version of Mary Jane has got over the years. However, she said that she is no longer an actively auditioning actor or model. The shoots she now does are purely a creative outlet for herself and a way to collaborate with friends she cares about.
She mentioned that, over the weekend, some followers crossed boundaries. One even went to the extent of calling her workplace and leaving multiple voicemails, wanting to speak with her and requesting her to call back, which is unacceptable and considered stalking. She added that her skincare page is not for Spider-Man or Mary Jane fans. She came into work the next morning and immediately felt unsafe and uncomfortable hearing those voicemails. She asked fans to respect that she is a human being trying to make a living just like everyone else, and she kindly asked for boundaries to not be crossed.
She ended her note by saying that any such messages will not be answered, and that she will block anyone who tries to make her feel uncomfortable. She added that anyone who is disappointed by this may unfollow her. Harassment and stalking of any kind are totally unacceptable, and we support Jones and hope that her privacy is respected.
