Leaked information about Cliffhanger Games’ upcoming Black Panther title has surfaced. According to insider TheGhostOfHope, players will have the unique opportunity to choose the next Black Panther, with iconic characters such as T’Challa, Shuri, M’Baku, Azari, and Killmonger playing pivotal roles.
The game aims to deliver an authentic Wakandan experience by blending African martial arts with superhuman abilities and advanced technology. Combat will be showcased through an over-the-shoulder perspective, with each Black Panther wielding distinct weapons, armor, and gadgets. Players will explore diverse environments, including bustling cities and sprawling savannahs, encountering unique cultures and characters along the way.
A key feature of the game is its dynamic storytelling, which reacts to player choices and actions. This system promises unique missions, narratives, and character interactions, ensuring a personalized experience for every player.
Kevin Stephens, the head of Cliffhanger Games, had teased some of their plans during the original announcement in 2023. He focused on the studio’s dedication to authenticity and player agency. “We’re committed to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game,” he said. “Wakanda is a rich superhero sandbox, and our mission is to create an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore Wakanda as much as we do.”
The studio has assembled a talented team, including veterans from acclaimed franchises such as Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Halo Infinite, God of War, and Call of Duty.
Cliffhanger Games’ Black Panther project is the second game featuring the superhero currently in development. The first, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, is being developed by Skydance New Media and is set in World War II-era Paris. It follows Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of that era, as they team up to thwart the rise of Hydra.
