In Death: Unchained Receives Major Visual Upgrade for Meta Quest 3 Headset

GIStaffBy GIStaffDecember 22, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

Superbright, the development team behind ‘In Death: Unchained’, has announced a major upgrade for the game specifically tailored to the Meta Quest 3 headset. Since the launch of Quest 3 on October 10th, 2023, the team has been focused on enhancing the game’s visual and technical aspects to fully utilize the capabilities of the new headset.

The upgrade, which started development following an announcement on November 8th, 2023, places a significant emphasis on visual improvements. Players can now enjoy more dynamic lighting effects, particularly from stained glass windows, and reflective surfaces on almost all objects. The game’s environment, including floors and stairs, has been noticeably enhanced, offering a fresh perspective that distinguishes it from its previous iteration.

Key enhancements in the Quest 3 version of ‘In Death: Unchained’ include:

  • Improved display resolution by approximately 30%.
  • Support for a high refresh rate of 90Hz.
  • Enhanced ambient lighting inside buildings from stained glass windows.
  • More complex reflective surfaces for realistic visual effects.
  • Shadows cast by enemies, adding depth and realism to character movements.
  • Intricately designed floor patterns and high-quality materials.
  • Various other technical improvements.

Purgatory, the first chapter of the game, is the initial focus of these enhancements, with more updates planned for 2024.

Wojciech Podgorski, CEO of Superbright, expressed satisfaction with the game’s appearance following the Quest 2 update but emphasized the need for further enhancements for Quest 3. He mentioned that the upgrade is part of a series of improvements planned for the game, which continues to engage thousands of active players.
