HoYoverse, the global interactive entertainment brand, has officially announced the launch of Genshin Impact Version 4.0, titled “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason.” Set to release on August 16, this update marks the debut of Fontaine, the fifth nation of Teyvat, known as the Nation of Justice.
Fontaine is not only a hub of culture, art, and technology but also a realm of new adventures, gameplay modes, stories, and the introduction of three playable characters. For the first time in the game, players can embark on an underwater adventure, exploring the depths beneath the bustling city.
Explore Fontaine, the Nation of Justice
Located northeast of the Sumeru desert, Fontaine is ruled by Focalors, the Hydro Archon and the God of Justice. Under her influence, the Opera Epiclese has become a venue for trials, magic shows, farces, tragedies, and various performances. The latest chapter of the Archon Quest unfolds here, featuring a masterful magic show by Lyney and Lynette.
Underwater Adventures Await
Fontaine’s unique underwater adventure allows players to explore beneath the surface without running out of oxygen, thanks to a special blessing. Players can engage in underwater combat, absorb abilities from aquatic creatures, and discover treasures ensnared by seaweed.
New Bosses and Playable Characters
Version 4.0 introduces new bosses, including the dancing clockwork meka duo “Icewind Suite” and the heavily Armored Crablord “Emperor of Fire and Iron.” The first three playable characters of Fontaine are siblings: Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet, each with unique abilities and attributes.
Enhanced Gaming Experience
A series of new functions and features, such as Global Illumination (GI), motion sensor support (Gyroscope), and faster loading on PlayStation consoles, are designed to improve graphics, controls, and the overall immersive experience.

Genshin Impact Version 4.0 will be available on August 16 across PlayStation®, PC, Android, and iOS. To celebrate the massive expansion of Fontaine, more events will be revealed later.
