Developer FromSoftware has no plans for a sequel to its successful action role-playing game, Elden Ring, and Shadow of the Erdtree will be the game’s final DLC.
Speaking during an interview, Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed that the studio has no plans for further DLC after Shadow of the Erdtree or a sequel to the game. He reminded that he had said the same thing about Dark Souls 3 in an earlier interview.
Miyazaki explained that he doesn’t mean the franchise is completely over. This is because he doesn’t think there is any need to destroy the possibilities and good ideas that may arise in the future. However, at this point in time, he said that there are no plans for additional DLC or an Elden Ring 2. Even if it’s not the complete end to the story, he mentioned that Shadow of the Erdtree will mark a big break for the Elden Ring IP.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is scheduled to be released globally on June 21, 2024. Alongside the announcement, a new trailer has been unveiled, showcasing the new realm of Land of Shadow and its mysteries, inviting players to embark on new adventures. The expansion takes place in the Land of Shadow, a location steeped in mystery and history within the Elden Ring universe. Players will be able to follow the path of Miquella, a golden figure who has relinquished his power and lineage in hopes of his promised lord’s return to this forsaken land.
