Previously, Musk surprised the gaming community by securing a top-20 global ranking in Diablo 4’s Pit 150 runs. Now, his Path of Exile 2 characters reportedly have endgame gear and powerful builds, rivaling those of veteran players. However, the community believes Musk’s gameplay and knowledge of the game do not match the hours of dedication needed to reach such a level.
During a recent stream on X (formerly Twitter), which attracted over a million viewers, Musk showcased his character in action. The stream, however, raised suspicions as Musk struggled with basic mechanics, including map navigation and inventory management. Observers noted several red flags, such as clicking on unconnected map nodes, failing to use custom loot filters, and misunderstanding key differences between weapon level requirements and item levels. In a boss fight, he repeatedly ran out of mana and only remembered to use potions long after they were needed.
This has led to accusations that Musk’s account may have been boosted or played by someone else, a violation of Path of Exile’s terms of service. The community has called for developer Grinding Gear Games (GGG) to investigate, though no explicit evidence has yet emerged to support these claims.
Prominent content creator Quin highlighted the mixed reactions sparked by the controversy. Some find the situation amusing and suggest it would be more entertaining to watch Musk start the game from scratch, while others express frustration, believing rules should apply equally to all players, regardless of celebrity status.
Despite the outcry, GGG has not issued a statement or taken action against Musk’s account. Without conclusive proof of boosting or account sharing, the matter remains unresolved. Whether this is a case of genuine effort or an unusual way of enjoying the game, it continues to be a hot topic within the Path of Exile community.
