From Software’s Elden Ring is out in just over a month and there have been quite a few details shared on the game, including its length and world.
In a recent presentation for the Taipei Game Show 2022, From Software’s Yasuhiro Kitao talked about the world, collaboration with Miyazaki, and also provided a detailed preview of the gameplay and the length of the game.
Regarding The Work Done by George R.R Martin
It was a somewhat unusual division of labor, really, in that we did not ask Mr. Martin to write the game’s story itself. Instead, he wrote for us the backstory to the world of “Elden Rings,” detailing the events that happened in the past, what we refer to as the game’s mythology.
Mr. Martin wrote the mythology behind the game’s world and then left it up to us at FromSoftware to making something of it. That mythology provided the inspiration, from which Miyazaki was able to use his own fertile imagination to create the game’s story.
Regarding The World
I’d say that this is probably the richest and most detailed world we have ever created. It’s certainly something to look forward to savouring.
Regarding The Game Length
This will differ significantly by player, but in terms of targets set during development, the idea is that the main route should be able to be completed within around 30 hours.
The game as a whole is quite massive and contains many dozens more hours’ worth of gameplay, but if we are talking about the main route only, it shouldn’t take much longer than that.
Elden Ring has also gone gold as confirmed in the presentation and the game is set to launch on February 25, 2022.
