People Can Fly and Incuvo’s first-person shooter, Bulletstorm VR, is reportedly suffering from major issues at launch, and refunds are being issued.
Reddit users are reporting that Bulletstorm VR for PSVR2 has been removed from the PlayStation Store in various PSN regions, and refunds are being issued over major, game breaking issues with the game.
Notifications are being sent out to those who purchased Bulletstorm VR on the PlayStation Store, stating that the game will be removed from the store and refunds will be given out. The message sent out on the Korean PlayStation Network states that Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed Bulletstorm VR is a product that not suitable for use, as it includes unfinished content. Therefore, the console maker has taken the step of canceling all purchases and refunded the purchase credit with the payment method players used for the purchase. In case a user can’t get a refund with their existing payment method, Sony Interactive Entertainment will refund the purchase amount to their PlayStation Network wallet.
It’s not just the PSVR2 version of Bulletstorm VR that is affected by major technical issues, however. Things don’t appear to be any different with the PC VR version, as Steam reviews are “mostly negative”. One review points out that the game is missing content, has no VR accessibility options or graphics settings, has some shaders and effects only rendered in one eye, has cut down dialogues, has pre-rendered cutscenes unlike the in-engine ones in the original game, and is unplayable on Valve Index controllers.
Update: It appears that the removal of the game from the PlayStation Store was a misunderstanding. Here is the response that we have received from the PR.
Unfortunately, Sony’s default error message implies that the game was removed due to product quality reasons which we assure you is not the case. To clarify, Bulletstorm VR is not available on PSVR2 in Japan and Korea since it was unable to obtain a rating in those respective countries. Additionally, pre-orders in those countries were automatically refunded.
While unavailable in Korea or Japan, the game is available in all other appropriate regions on PSVR2.
The non-VR version of Bulletstorm was released back in 2011. The game features a unique system where players earn “skillpoints” for executing progressively creative kills. The narrative unfolds in the 26th century and focuses on Grayson Hunt, a space pirate and former black ops soldier. After being shot down on a war-torn planet, Hunt seeks revenge against General Sarrano, his former commander, who deceived him and his team into committing war crimes and assassinating innocent individuals.
