Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon Rated in Korea, Set for Release in 2023

FromSoftware’s upcoming mecha-based vehicular combat game, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, has been rated in Korea, signaling its impending release in 2023. Published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, this will be the first new installment in the Armored Core series since Armored Core: Verdict Day in 2013. The game is set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

The story of Armored Core VI unfolds on a distant planet called Rubicon 3, where humanity has discovered a new energy source with the potential to revolutionize its technological capabilities. However, this substance triggers a cataclysmic event, engulfing the entire star system in flames. Fifty years later, humanity once again attempts to control this mysterious resource. Players take on the role of an independent mercenary, piloting one of the titular Armored Cores and accepting jobs from extra-terrestrial mega-corporations and opposing resistance groups.

Development for Armored Core VI began in early 2016 when FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that a new entry in the series was in its initial stages. A potential new installment was leaked during a focus test in January 2022, and the game was officially announced at The Game Awards 2022 in December. Masaru Yamamura, the lead game designer on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, is directing Armored Core VI, with Yasunori Ogura serving as the game’s producer.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon promises an exhilarating gaming experience, allowing players to assemble and pilot their own mechs with 3D maneuverability for fast-paced missions. The game features a variety of actions that can only be achieved with mechs, enabling players to engage in dynamic ranged and melee combat. Fans of the series can eagerly anticipate the return of Armored Core with this exciting new installment in 2023.
