D20Studios has announced the upcoming release of Abalon, a turn-based tactics game with card strategy wrapped in a roguelike adventure. This highly anticipated game will be available on Steam from May 11th, 2023, after seven years of development and collaboration with players.
Abalon offers players a unique gaming experience that combines the best elements of classic tabletop games, including tactics, cards, dice, and the magic of using creativity to devise amazing strategies. Players describe it as a successful combination of Magic: The Gathering, D&D and Final Fantasy Tactics, making it both familiar and unlike anything they’ve ever played.
The game’s founder and developer, Ross Przybylski, expresses his excitement and honor in delivering a game that meets the expectations of its players. The game has a playful art style with over 200 distinct characters, including squirrel hurling druids, time traveling steampunk rats, and psychic lizard wizards. The characters look up at you to be commanded, adding to the immersive experience.
