Two important materials needed for upgrading your weapons in Wild Hearts are Pointed Scales and Crustaceous Moss.
How to Obtain Pointed Scales and Crustaceous Moss in Wild Hearts
To obtain Pointed Scales, players must kill Nightshade Monitors found in the Akikure Canyon in Chapter 2 or Shardshower Monitors in Fuyufusagi Fort (which becomes accessible in half of chapter 2). Crustaceous Moss, on the other hand, can be obtained from Grassghoul Decapods on Natsukodachi Isle (The Spirit Isle) by petting or slaying them.
However, obtaining these materials can be tricky as players have only two options when interacting with the small Kemono – they can either pet or slay them. Sneaking up on them and petting them will provide different materials compared to killing them. The material next to the hand icon is what you’ll receive after petting them, while the material next to the sword image in the upper right is what you’ll receive after killing them.
