Pokémon TCG Pocket has exceeded $120 million in gross revenue just 17 days after its global release. The game, developed by The Pokémon Company in collaboration with DENA, has captivated players worldwide with its blend of collectible card gaming and competitive battling.
According to data from AppMagic (via PocketGamer), Pokémon TCG Pocket is averaging a staggering $6.4 million per day in player spending. On November 15th, the game achieved its most lucrative day so far, earning $8.2 million across the App Store and Google Play. These figures have placed the game as The Pokémon Company’s second-largest mobile launch, just $18 million shy of Pokémon Go’s unprecedented $138.8 million in its first 19 days.
Since its debut, Pokémon TCG Pocket has generated $35.8 million in its first week, $48.5 million in its second week, and another $37.2 million five days into its third week. Japan remains the game’s largest revenue contributor, accounting for $50.6 million (42 percent of global spending), while the United States follows with $33.6 million (28 percent).
The game offers players over 250 Pokémon cards to collect and use in battles, with monetization heavily centered around in-game currency called PokeGold. Players can purchase this currency to acquire card packs and other items, though the game also provides up to three free packs daily through a combination of giveaways and a $10 monthly pass.
Pokémon TCG Pocket has already outperformed the first 19-day earnings of Pokémon Masters, which launched in 2019 and took in $26.4 million during its initial release period. Masters has since surpassed $300 million in lifetime revenue, but TCG Pocket is well on its way to matching or exceeding this milestone in record time.
Although Pokémon Go remains the crown jewel of The Pokémon Company’s mobile portfolio with over $8 billion in lifetime earnings, Pokémon TCG Pocket’s explosive start demonstrates the franchise’s ability to adapt and succeed across different genres and platforms.
