Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have released a new story trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, offering a deeper look at Sophia’s dangerous journey through the mysterious Minotaur Island ahead of the game’s release on 27 August 2026.
The latest entry in the A Plague Tale series will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with the new trailer providing a closer look at the game’s dark setting and the challenges awaiting Sophia as she searches for answers surrounding her family’s past.
The story follows Sophia, whose attempt to carry out a major heist alongside her late father’s group of bandits goes badly wrong. Forced to flee Venice, she travels to Minotaur Island with her companion Leni, where she becomes caught up in the mysteries surrounding an ancient civilisation.
Much of the adventure takes place among the remains of this forgotten civilisation, with Sophia exploring dangerous environments while attempting to survive the forces hunting her. The story will also explore her early years and shed light on the origins of the Macula, a central element of the wider A Plague Tale universe.
Despite Sophia’s combat abilities and agility, the journey will not be without danger. Players will need to make use of her arsenal, which includes chain sword attacks, daggers, parries, and kicks, while adapting to the enemies standing between her and the truth.
Focus Entertainment is also releasing a series of short behind-the-scenes videos ahead of launch. These provide additional glimpses at the environments, including Venice and Minotaur Island, as well as the game’s approach to navigating dark areas by using available sources of light.
Other videos focus on Sophia herself, the enemies she will encounter, and the various combat techniques available throughout the adventure.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will also be playable at gamescom 2026, where attendees will be able to try the game at both the Focus Entertainment and Xbox booths.
The game is now available to pre-order on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass and support Xbox Play Anywhere.
