ASUS appears to have mistakenly revealed the European prices for its upcoming handheld gaming devices, the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X. According to a leak reportedly originating from ASUS, the standard ROG Xbox Ally will be priced at 599 euros, while the more advanced ROG Xbox Ally X is expected to cost 899 euros. Although an official confirmation is still pending, these figures are now circulating widely, suggesting they are accurate.
The handhelds were first unveiled during a recent Xbox showcase, where Microsoft introduced the ROG Xbox Ally series as part of its growing commitment to portable gaming. Roanne Sones, Corporate Vice President of Gaming Devices and Ecosystem at Xbox, announced the collaboration with ASUS, highlighting how the devices aim to blend the power of Xbox with the flexibility of Windows. Both models are scheduled to launch during the holiday season of 2025 in select regions, with a broader rollout planned for later.
Sones emphasized Xbox’s ongoing efforts to make gaming accessible anywhere, saying, “Everything at Xbox starts with the player.” This approach, reflected in initiatives like Xbox Play Anywhere, Game Pass, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, now extends to dedicated handheld devices through this partnership with ASUS.
ASUS, known for its innovation in handheld gaming, mirrors this player-first philosophy. The company has developed two models catering to different user needs. The standard ROG Xbox Ally features an AMD Ryzen Z2 processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, and a 512GB SSD, all housed within a design inspired by the Xbox Wireless Controller.
The ROG Xbox Ally X raises the bar with an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of faster LPDDR5X memory, and a 1TB SSD for expanded storage. This model also introduces impulse triggers for enhanced gameplay control. Both devices share a seven-inch Full HD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and FreeSync Premium support, aiming to deliver a high-quality visual experience on the go.
In terms of connectivity, the Xbox Ally X includes a USB4 Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4 compatibility, offering improved versatility over the standard model. The Ally X is also equipped with a larger 80Wh battery compared to the 60Wh unit in the base version, which could translate into longer gaming sessions away from a power source.
While official details on pre-orders, accessories, and final pricing have yet to be shared by Microsoft or ASUS, this unexpected leak gives potential buyers a clearer idea of what to expect. With handheld gaming becoming an increasingly competitive market, the ROG Xbox Ally series seems poised to offer a strong entry backed by both ASUS engineering and Xbox’s gaming ecosystem.
