Nintendo Is The Richest Company In Japan Based On Net Cash/Cash Equivalent

Nintendo is the richest company in Japan based on net cash, cash equivalent, and debt, as per the latest information.

According to Toyo Keiza‘s annual list for the year 2024, Nintendo is the richest company in Japan based on net cash, cash equivalent, and debt. The console maker’s cash and cash equivalent are estimated at 1.71 trillion Yen or about 11.44 billion US Dollars, and it has no debt.

Nintendo richest companyThe rankings by Toyo Keiza take into account the combined cash reserves and cash equivalents subtracted by the debt owed by a company. Therefore, the list is based on how much cash and cash equivalent a company holds, not its overall worth.

Other notable video games companies that found their way into the list of top 300 richest Japanese companies include Bandai Namco at #25, Square Enix at #38, Konami at #50, Sega at #63, GungHo at #64, Kadokawa at #81, and Capcom at #88.

Nintendo is a Japanese multinational video game company headquartered in Kyoto, Japan. Founded in 1889 as Nintendo Koppai by Fusajiro Yamauchi, it initially produced handmade hanafuda playing cards. Nintendo entered the console market in 1977 with the Color TV-Game. It gained global recognition with titles like Donkey Kong in 1981 and the Nintendo Entertainment System with Super Mario Bros. in 1985.

The company has created successful consoles such as the Game Boy, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo DS, Wii, and Switch. It’s known for franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon. As of March 2023, Nintendo has sold over 5.592 billion video games and 836 million hardware units globally.

Nintendo has subsidiaries in Japan and abroad, along with partnerships with HAL Laboratory, Intelligent Systems, Game Freak, and The Pokémon Company. Nintendo has received various awards, including Emmy Awards for Technology & Engineering, Game Awards, and British Academy Games Awards. It holds a significant position in the Japanese market as one of the wealthiest and most valuable companies.
