Halo Infinite Player Count Dips Below Halo: The Master Chief Collection On Steam

JoelBy JoelApril 13, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read

Halo Infinite might have launched to fanfare but it hasn’t fared that well owing to lackluster post-launch support for its multiplayer.

While 343 Industries is finally starting the second season for Halo Infinite multiplayer, the player count of the game is decreasing at an alarming rate. It has now fallen below the levels of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam.

The latest update on Steam Database appears to show Halo Infinite ranked 201 on the most played games list. It had an all-time peak of 272K players and a 24-hour peak of 8.2k. while Halo: The Master Chief Collection is comfortably ahead with a 24-hour peak of 9.2K and ranked 141 on the most played games list.

Among the complaints about the game is a lack of a co-op campaign, which was promised to arrive post-launch. It is reportedly launching along the new season in May although it remains to be seen if this turns out to be the case. The slow updates and lack of a future update roadmap mean that fans are frustrated about the state of the game.

Halo Infinite launched on PC including Steam and Xbox Game Pass for Windows Store. It is also available for Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles where it can be played as part of the Xbox Game Pass. The multiplayer portion is separate from the main game and was released in a beta state back before the launch of the game’s single-player campaign.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection had exceptional post-launch support and continues to drive player count, as seen with the game surpassing Halo Infinite. It is also available on Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles so the player count is divided among the two platforms, yet it has managed to overtake Halo Infinite in peak players.
