Blizzard rolls out the latest Diablo IV update 1.13, introducing the Season of the Malignant with gameplay enhancements, bug fixes, and new features across all platforms.
Blizzard’s Diablo IV team has been hard at work, closely monitoring player feedback and introducing patches to ensure a seamless gaming experience in the world of Sanctuary. The latest patch, 1.1.0b Build #43391, released on July 20, 2023, brings a host of updates and fixes for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms.
The highlight of this update is the introduction of the Season of the Malignant. For more information about the season’s theme and offerings, players can visit the official Blizzard article.
In the Season of the Malignant, Malignant Hearts will now consistently grant armor that aligns with their item power. Additionally, the level requirement for World Tiers III and IV has been removed, making these tiers more accessible to players.
The Diablo IV team has also introduced a new feature in the form of Malignant Tunnels. These are highly replayable dungeons filled with formidable foes. Players can acquire Malignant Hearts by defeating the malignant monsters within these tunnels. There are six such dungeons spread across Sanctuary, forming the Malignant Tunnel system.
The update also brings players face-to-face with Varshan the Consumed, the newest boss battle. Varshan uses his hatred as a weapon, launching malicious blasts and hurling globs of corruption at enemies.

Seasonal characters have a unique role in Diablo IV. To participate in seasons, players must create a new character in the seasonal realm. Once the season ends, the character and its progress will be transferred to the eternal realm, along with all items collected, including those in the seasonal stash.
The Season Journey and Battle Pass offer players the chance to earn rewards as they hunt down malignant monsters and uncover the source of the corruption. The Season Journey is divided into chapters, each with tasks to complete. As players progress, they earn rewards such as new legendary aspects, a mastery title, and a scroll of amnesia, which provides a free skill tree and paragon board reset.
The Season of the Malignant Battle Pass, which begins on July 20, hosts 90 tiers, including 27 free tiers and 63 premium tiers. Players can earn smoldering ashes from the free tiers, which can be spent on season blessings that provide bonuses to earning experience, gold, or obols.
Diablo IV is available now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
