Age of Empires III Update 56860 Patch Details: What’s New In December 16 Update

Age of Empires III Definitive Edition has been updated to version 56580 today. You can find out the complete patch notes from here.

The new update is aimed at some stability and performance improvements in addition to changes to the various maps. You can get the details on this update with the patch notes below, or take a look at the official website.

Age of Empires III Update 56860 Patch Notes

Game

Stability & Performance

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when playing a game against the AI.
  • Fixed a crash in the UI code.
  • Fixed a crash that would occur when attempting to return to the Main Menu from the user’s Home City while playing the Story Mode campaigns.

Graphics

  • The portrait of the Jat Lancer unit now correctly displays the player color.

Audio

  • Fixed an issue where the Dock Rickshaw had no VO when playing as Swedes, United States, Hausa or Ethiopians.

UI

  • The Saloon now appears correctly in the Mexican tech tree at Age II rather than Age III.

Gameplay

General

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the completion of the secondary objective to gather supplies near the shipwreck on the “Into the Caves” mission of Blood, Ice and Steel.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the tenth cow from gathering at the Hacienda.
  • Fixed an error that would occur when trying to report a Clan.
  • Fixed an issue where the final challenge in the Fiesta Mexicana event could not be completed when the language is not set to English.

Fixes

  • Lights from the “Día de Muertos (Day of the dead) 2/2” fireworks no longer appear in the revolution home city
  • The Mexican home city, its lights, the time of day and the temple now behave correctly

Mods

  • Fixed an issue that caused .personality files in a mod to be ignored by the game.
  • The personalities.xml file now supports additive mods – use file personalitiesmods.xml with a root node called personalitiesmods.
  • Fixed a bug that made it not possible to modify a ProtoAction of a unit using additive mods.

Civilization Balance

General

UNITS & BUILDINGS

  • Revolutionary: Commerce Age hp & dmg reduction increased to 25% (up from 20%)
  • Petard: Added Commerce Age hp & dmg reduction of 25% (previously 0%)

Mexico

CIVILIZATION

  • Starting units adjusted as follows
    • 6 Villagers (no change)
    • 300 Food (down from 400)
    • 100 Wood (no change)
    • 100 Coin (no change)

UNITS & BUILDINGS

  • Salteador: Adjusted as follows
    • Speed reduced to 4.25 (from 4.5)
    • Stealth speed penalty increased to 33.34% (from 50%)
  • Insurgente: Siege damage reduced to 12 (from 13)
  • Chinaco: Adjusted as follows
    • Attacks now inflicts 1.34x against Hand Cavalry (changed from All Cavalry)
    • Attacks now properly inflict 1.2x against Hand Shock Infantry
  • Hacienda: Adjusted as follows
    • Hitpoints reduced to 3500 (from 5000)
    • Food toggle trickle reduced to 0.5 f/s (from 1.0)
    • Coin toggle trickle reduced to 0.31 c/s (from 0.62)
    • Improved placement rules: should no longer possible to place buildings on the crops which would occasionally block gatherers from working

CARDS

  • Dance Halls / Catinas / Folk Heroes: Outlaw population cost reduction reverted to 2 (from 1)
  • Los Colorados Battalion (IV): Now ships 9 Soldado and 1 Falconet (down from 9 Soldado and 2 Falconets)
  • Renegade Comanche (II): Moved to the Fortress Age, now ships 11 Horse Archers (up from 9)
  • Renegade Navajo (III): Moved to the Commerce Age, now ships 10 Navajo (down from 11)
  • Independence Movements (I): Revolution and Return to Mexico cost improvement reduced to 20% (from 25%)
  • Palace of Iturbide: Town Center Cannon Attack damage now properly caps when 10 Villagers are garrisoned
  • 12 Insurgentes (II): Now ships 11
  • Plan of Veracruz (IV): Artillery line of sight improvement reduced to +4 (from +7)
  • 17 Fishing Boats (IV): Now delivers 14
  • 5 Villagers (II): Added to homecity
  • Tlaxcala Textiles (Tlaxcala, II): Effect changed to “Ships 2 Settlers. Each new and existing Hacienda spawns 2 Settlers.”
  • Tlaxcala Alliance (Tlaxcala, II): No longer enables Christian Schools to be researched, instead enables Tlaxcala Initiation (200w 200c, grants +100% Hero atk & hp)
  • Querétaro Haciendas (Querétaro, II): Enables Haciendas to support 20 population (up from 15)
  • Cinco de Mayo (Puebla, V): adjusted as follows
    • Fixed a bug where the Fort auras would stack
    • Increased aura range to 32 (from 26) — this is the same radius as displayed by the Fort’s ‘range ring’ after the Revetment improvement is researched

REVOLUTIONS

  • Central America:
    • Revolution cost increased to 400 f/w/c (from 300)
    • Return to Mexico cost changed to 1250 f/w/c (from 2000f, 1200c)
    • Santamaria’s Fire (card): Now ships 4 Soldados (down from 5)
    • INF 7 Revolutionaries (card): Now ships 6
    • Central American Infantry (card): cost reduced to 250
    • Central American Cavalry (card): cost reduced to 250
  • Baja California: Adjusted as follows
    • Now grants 3 Post Wagons (up from 2)
    • Revolution cost increased to 400 f/w/c (from 300)
    • Return to Mexico cost changed to 1250 f/w/c (from 2000f, 1200c)
    • Baja California Territory (card): Effect tweaked to “Ships 3 Settlers. Haciendas attract nearby Huntable Animals to improve production rates.”
    • Foreign Investment (card): May now only be sent twice
  • Yucatan: Adjusted as follows
    • Return to Mexico cost changed to 3000 f/w/c (from 4000, 4000c)
    • No longer makes Factory upgrades free
    • Solís Shredders (card): Hacienda Wood toggle gather rate reduced to 0.65 w/s (down from 0.75)
    • Fixed a bug where Returning to Mexico would improve the Hacienda Wood toggle gather rate by 33.33% (removed)
    • Insurgentes no longer gain +10% hp upon revolting (now only gain +10% atk and the Lasso charged ability)
    • Mayan Supporters (card): effect changed to “Ships 6 Holcan Javelineers and 6 Yucateco Insurgents. Insurgents gain +10% more hitpoints”; no longer allies you with the Maya
    • Yucatecan (card): Inspiring Flag gather rate aura decreased to 15%
    • Amparo (card): Villager train speed reduction reduced to 25% (from 35%)
    • Henequen Industry (card): Additional trickles reduced to 0.5/s (from 1/s)
  • Rio Grande: Adjusted as follows
    • Return to Mexico cost changed to 3000 f/w/c (from 4000, 4000c)
  • Texas:
    • Texas Army (card): Now properly arrives in 40s (down from 60)
    • Old Three Hundred (card): Markets now have a build limit of 3 (default change for all civilizations) – this fixes a gameplay issue where players may be tempted to feed their teammates wood to ‘spam markets’ with and spawn settlers more easily than intended
  • Maya:
    • Fixed a bug where the “Native Lore” and “Native Alliance” cards were activated upon revolting
    • American Allies (card): Removed from deck
    • Holcan Javelineer Build Limit per card: lowered from +2 down to +1, starting at 10 instead of 23
    • Cruzob Infantry: Ranged attack Heavy Cavalry multiplier reduced to 1.5x (from 2.5)
    • Cruzob Infantry: Speed reduced to 4 (from 5)
    • Cruzob Infantry: ranged resistance flipped to melee
    • Field Hospitals can train Cruzob Infantry instead of Soldados with Bustamante card
    • Cruzob Avenger: Now has +2 range (down from 3)
    • Maya Architecture: No longer buffs Fort HP

Random Maps

Map Updates

California:

  • Adjusted how silver mines spawn for a fairer distribution.

Great Lakes:

  • Fixed an issue that could result in a player’s town center not to spawn.

Hokkaido:

  • Added an additional hunt for each player in 1v1.

Niger Delta:

  • Fixed an issue that could cause some of the rivers not to spawn on the large version only.

Panama:

  • Fixed an issue that could lead to players not spawning in 4v4s.

Rockies:

  • Reduced the number of native settlements in the valley from 2 to 1 in 1v1s.

Sonora:

  • Fixed an issue causing the fourth trade socket not to spawn on the trade route in 1v1s.
  • Fixed an issue causing treasures to be placed too close to cliff edges, thus being unobtainable.

Texas Frontier:

  • Reduced the amount of hunts that spawn near players to better resemble the original legacy map.

Unknown:

  • Fixed an issue that could lead to trade sockets not to spawn along the trade route if the map has a river.
  • Adjusted water types and terrains to match for an improved appearance.
  • Added Lenape native settlements (from the historical battle – Battle of Queenston Heights).

Yucatan:

  • Fixed an issue that could result in some treasures and/or their guardians from spawning correctly.
  • Adjusted the trade route to ensure a fairer layout.
