The iconic gaming mascot, Zool, has made a surprise return with the launch of Zool Redimensioned on PlayStation 4.
Originally released in 1992 on the Amiga by Gremlin Graphics, Zool now offers an updated experience to gamers. In Zool Redimensioned, players are tasked with guiding Zool through eight alien worlds, battling menacing bosses, and saving the universe from the malevolent Krool.
The game retains its old-school platforming action while incorporating modern enhancements that bring it into the 21st century. Players can beat their speed run times, uncover hidden secrets in every level, and even revisit the original classic game for a truly authentic retro experience.
Zool Redimensioned offers over 28 retro platforming challenges, all enhanced for an optimal gaming experience. Players can choose between two main game modes: Redimensioned for a more accessible modern experience, or Ultimate Ninja for a true hardcore challenge. The game also features redesigned boss fights, new secrets, challenges, and extras, with over 25 achievements to unlock.
This revamped version combines classic platforming action with contemporary enhancements, such as speed run challenges, hidden secrets, and the “Ultimate Ninja” mode that ramps up the difficulty to 1992 levels. The game also introduces three new local multiplayer party modes, allowing players to compete with up to three friends in various challenges.
In addition to the new features, the game’s trophy list has been made available for viewing. Trophies include completing various modes, defeating specific bosses, and discovering hidden collectibles.
Zool Redimensioned still doesn’t have a release date or price for the PS4 version, but the Steam version is available for $9.99, so that should be the baseline price for the PS4 release as well.
