Xbox has responded to the PlayStation Holiday sale offer on titles from the Yakuza series with a clever reminder of its own.

PlayStation UK took to Twitter/X to remind Yakuza fans about various titles from the series being on sale as part of its Holiday sale, and Xbox UK responded with an offer of its own.

PlayStation’s public service announcement informed Yakuza fans that they can get Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, The Yakuza Remastered Collection, and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life for less than £25 as part of the January, 2024 sale. Meanwhile, Xbox responded in a similar manner with a compelling offer of its own, letting Yakuza fans know that they can play not only Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, The Yakuza Remastered Collection, and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, but also Yakuza: Like A Dragon and Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name on Xbox Game Pass. We’ll let our readers decide which offer works best for them.

The most recent entry in the Yakuza series, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, isn’t currently on sale on PlayStation, but it is available free of cost to Xbox Game Pass subscribers. It is an action-adventure game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega. A spin-off of the Like a Dragon series, the game is set during the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon (2020) and follows the series’ original protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, on a new adventure in Osaka, posing as a secret agent. Released on November 9, 2023, Like a Dragon Gaiden is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Players assume control of Kazuma Kiryu and explore Osaka’s Sotenbori district. The Isezaki Ijincho district of Yokohama, featured in Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Lost Judgment, is partially accessible during the game’s first chapter. The Castle serves as a hub for side activities, including karaoke, Pocket Circuit racing, cabaret club, and a fighting arena. Akame, a new character, acts as an informant and provides Kiryu with sub-missions.
