Undead Labs currently has two unreleased games in development, one of which is the third entry in the State of Decay series, State of Decay 3.
According to the Linkedin profile of Daniel Floyd, former at Undead Labs, the Xbox first-party studio is currently working on two unreleased titles, one of which is State of Decay 3. No other information was shared regarding the other game, which remains unannounced to this day.
Regarding State of Decay 3, it was previously revealed by Xbox Game Studios’ Matt Booty that the development team is collaborating with the Unreal Engine 5 experts at The Coalition to incorporate some of the technology that went into the development of Gears of War titles into State of Play 3. He also mentioned that the things the studio has been doing with State of Decay 2 since its launch are essentially the test bed for things that will go into State of Decay 3.
In addition, the LinkedIn profile of senior cinematic artist at Undead Labs, Alan Diekfuss, had previously revealed that State of Decay 3 will feature in-game cinematics as opposed to pre-rendered ones. Furthermore, the LinkedIn profile of Simon Sherr, director of animation and technology at Undead Labs, stated that Microsoft is developing a new studio under Undead Labs in Orlando, Florida. In addition to working on animation technology in Unreal Engine 5 for State of Decay 3, this new team is fostering cross-studio animation technology collaboration and animation technology initiatives across Xbox Game Studios.
State of Decay 3 is the latest entry in the State of Decay series. It is a third-person zombie survival game with an emphasis on scavenging for items. The game features cooperative gameplay with up to three other players and is set in an open world. It is the sequel to State of Decay 2, which was released on May 22, 2018.
